什么是GMB(Google My Business)?

Home — Blog — What Is Google My Business & Why Do I Need It?
In an effort to gain more visibility on Google, many businesses create a Google business listing (known officially as a Business Profile). If you’re one such business owner, something you might not realize is that creating a Business Profile does not give you management over it, and you need those management and editing capabilities if you want your Business Profile to work for you as an effective SEO and lead generation tool.
So how do you gain management over your Google Business Profile? The answer is that, in addition to creating a free Business Profile, you must also separately create a free Google My Business account for that profile.
You need a separate Google My Business account to manage your Business Profile.
A Google My Business account is the only means by which you can claim ownership of your Business Profile, attain management rights to it, and unlock additional free features to increase your visibility on Google. In this post, I’m going to cover everything you need to know about Google My Business, including:
What Google My Business is
How to use Google My Business effectively
How to use Google My Business for SEO
How to create a Google My Business account
Read on so you can incorporate this free and powerful tool to your marketing toolkit!

What is Google My Business?
As mentioned, Google My Business is a tool that enables you to manage and optimize your Business Profile on Google—which is one of many important business directory listings. So to explain what Google Business Profile is and how it works, let’s first make sure we’re clear on what a Business Profile is.
Your Business Profile is Google’s term for your Google business listing. Business Profiles appear in Google Maps and in the local results of Google Search.
Business Profiles on Google Search look like this:
Business Profiles on Google Maps look like this:
And Business Profiles on mobile look like this:
Creating a Business Profile is the same thing as adding a place to Google Maps—which is something that anyone (including a random stranger or an automated listing generator) can do. All that Google requires is the business name, location, and category. Once Google confirms it is not a duplicate, they will create the Business Profile for that location. The Business Profile is then open to consumers to leave reviews, add photos, ask questions, and even answer questions. The Business Profile may also get populated with information that Google pulls in from across the web.
What this means is, a Business Profile can exist on its own, apart from a Google My Business account. And whether you created your own Business Profile or not, you don’t have the ability to manage the information it displays or the reviews it collects.
That is where Google My Business comes in. By creating a Google My Business account, you can access, customize, manage, and enhance your Business Profile on Google, all still for free, which we’ll get into next.
How to use Google My Business for local marketing
So we’ve established that Google My Business is not your Business Profile, but rather a tool by which you enhance your Business Profile to boost its visibility and effectiveness. Let’s cover the four core ways you can use this Google My Business to make your profile on Google listing a better local marketing tool.
1. Engage with consumers
There are a lot of ways consumers can interact with your Business Profile, and you use your Google My Business account to engage back with them. You can respond to reviews, answer questions, enable direct messaging, and set up associated alerts. You can even use Google My Business to publish posts to your Business Profile, much like you would with Facebook and other social media platforms.
Your Google My Business dashboard is where you can respond to reviews, publish posts, and answer questions asked on your Business Profile.
2. Highlight your business
A Business Profile alone contains limited information about your business. But through your Google My Business account dashboard, you can provide hours, a link to your website, products and pricing, attributes, and other details that make your business unique. You will also use your Google My Business to make edits and updates as needed.
A complete Business Profile offers a complete snapshot of your business, including its best features, right in the SERP.
3. Gain insights
You can use the Google My Business dashboard to gain key insights on your audience and local search performance. In the analytics tab of the platform, you can see the queries customers are using to find your Business Profile, whether they found you on Google Maps or Google Search, a breakdown of actions taken on your listing, and how your photos are performing compared to other profiles in your category. Note also that there are ways to track clicks from a Business Profile via UTM parameters and Google Analytics.
4. Perform local SEO
Just as Google has algorithms for ranking its ads and websites, it also has one for ranking Business Profiles. Through your Google My Business dashboard, you can incorporate keywords into your Business Profile and perform other optimizations to help it rank in local results, which we’re going to cover next.
Google My Business can help you optimize your Business Profile to show up in the coveted 3-Pack.
How to use Google My Business for SEO
Google Business Profiles are dynamic. Not only do they change form based on platform, but Google will also prioritize sections of your profile according to the term that was searched as well as the type of information most important to consumers in your category. Even better, Google will embolden keywords in the content of your profile that it thinks are relevant.
But there needs to be information to prioritize and keywords to embolden in your profile in the first place. Just as you (or your agency) would use a content management system like WordPress to optimize your website for search engines, Google My Business is used to optimize your profile and expand your reach. How do you use Google My Business for local SEO? Well, since optimizing for Google is essentially optimizing for searchers, it all comes down to the same three things: targeting, quality of information, and trust.
Target your information
To use Google My Business for SEO, make sure to incorporate relevant keywords into your Business Profile so you can tell Google what you’re trying to rank for. Use them in your “from the business” description, your responses to reviews, your answers to questions, and in the posts you publish. Make sure to incorporate them naturally just as you would with any other SEO strategy.
Include keywords in your description, editable through your Google My Business dashboard.
Maintain quality of information
The completeness and accuracy of your Business Profile impacts its rank, so make sure to provide the requested information in every section of your Google My Business dashboard. Especially important here is your contact information, special hours, and attributes.
Build trust
The final approach to using Google My Business for SEO appeals to the trust component of Google’s algorithm. Keep your information updated and accurate as your business evolves. Keep a steady stream of reviews coming in and respond to them. Also, signal to Google that you are active by regularly uploading photos and publishing posts to your Business Profile through Google My Business.
Reviews and responses appear on your Business Profile. Be sure to manage them through your Google My Business dashboard.
SEO is important for any business, but particularly for small businesses that can use local targeting to compete against large competitors on the SERP. Google is making local SEO even easier with its robust Business Profiles, so a Google My Business account is essential for any business trying to maximize visibility in their local market.

How to sign up for Google My Business
A free tool that turns my Business Profile into a power marketer for my business? Where do I sign up?
To get a Google My Business account, go to google.com/business and click “Manage now,” which will take you through the steps of creating an account. Remember, a Google My Business Account does not automatically create a Business Profile—it gives you access to it and the ability to add more to it. So you’ll want to make sure you have an existing Business Profile to access.
Also remember that creating Google My Business account does not give you automatic access to your Business Profile. Once you create and are logged into your Google My Business account, you will then need to locate your separate Business Profile on Google Maps and then select the “Claim this business” or “Own this business?” link seen right on the profile. Once you complete that process, your Google My Business account will then be connected with your Business Profile and under your management.

How to Use Google My Business (Optimize Your Listing for Local SEO)
How to Use Google My Business (Optimize Your Listing for Local SEO)
Matteo Duò,
February 14, 2024
Getting more local leads and Google My Business go hand in hand. When people search for a product or service near them, they are generally looking to purchase something.
In fact, 78% of local mobile searches lead to a purchase in-store or online according to Search Engine Land. These are the people you want to attract to your business.
In this guide, you will learn what a Google My Business listing is, how it helps your local SEO, how to set it up, and how to optimize it.
Info
Google My Business is now called Google Business Profile. Before that, it was called Google Places, and before that, Google+ Local. Go even further back, and it was both Google Places a first time and Google Local. The article below and the references are still fine, Google just keeps changing the name.
What Is Google My Business?
Google My Business (or GMB) is a local business listing service powered by Google.
It is completely free to use and the only requirement for using it is you must have some form of face-to-face interaction with your customers. Basically, if you are 100% online you can’t really have a Google My Business listing.
If you’ve ever performed a local search, you will have seen it show up in Google search results. It looks like this:
An example of a Google My Business listing
How Does Google My Business Work?
Google allows you to claim your business and get it live. This way, when people are looking for something you provide, your website will come up in their search results.
You can list the services you provide, add an FAQ section, a few photos, and also allow customers to leave reviews about your business. You can even add a few interesting attributes to your business that will show in your Knowledge Graph such as Online Care, Online Appointment, Online Estimates, and Online Classes.
Why You Should Use Google My Business
Let’s face it: Google dominates search and especially local search. According to Net Market Share, over 70% of all searches happen on Google’s search engine.
Graph showing search engine market share
As a small business owner, you simply can’t afford to overlook the benefits of using Google My Business (GMB).
Research shows that 92% of online buyers like to compare brands online before buying something. And most of them head to Google Search to find businesses they’d like to purchase from.
Additionally, 49% of all Google My Business listings get more than 1000 searches every month, while 96% of the listings are seen 25 times per month, at least.
Do you know what happens when your business is listed and seen on Google My Business?
Stats show that 56% of the people who see your GMB listing will click through to your website, while another 24% will call your business directly. That’s great news for businesses that want to survive and thrive despite the challenging economic conditions.
This survey shows that a Google My Business listing can also drive local SEO success for small businesses, pretty much guaranteeing visibility on Google Maps and Google Search for SMEs.
Just look at these results from a study into Google’s local ranking factors:
Local pack (GMB) vs local organic ranking factors study results
Also, GMB lets potential clients get in touch with you right away, while you get to keep track of your listing to learn what past customers think of your brand, plan their visit, navigate them to your location, and do so much more.
That’s a lot of reasons to use Google My Business!
Now that you know what Google My Business is and why you should be using it for your local business, let’s run through how to set it up.
How Do I Setup Google My Business? (And Get Listed on Google)
Setting up your Google My Business profile and getting listed on Google is a crucial part of local search. Here’s how to get your businesses a Google My Business profile:
1. Go to the Official Google My Business Site
Visit the official Google My Business page and click the Manage Now button:
Google My Business homepage, start here to set up your account
If you’re not already signed into your Google account, it will ask you to sign in before going any further.
Make sure you are signed in to the account that you want to be associated with the GMB listing you are creating.
2. Finding Your Business or Creating a New Listing
If you haven’t set up a GMB listing in the past, you can search for the name of your business or you can click to add a new listing.
Finding your business on GMB
It’s not uncommon for someone to have already listed your business. If this is the case, you should see your business appear. If it doesn’t appear, click Add your business to Google
3. Setting Up Your Name
Now you’ll be able to add your business name:
Adding your business name to GMB
Once you’ve added it, hit next.
4. Choosing a Category
Now you need to choose the category that best describes your business on Google My Business.
This step is pretty important if you want to show up in Google’s results page when customers are searching for a product or service that you offer.
You’ll be able to set primary and secondary categories, pick these wisely.
Choosing a business category on GMB
Under the “Business” category, type in what your business does and you’ll get some auto-generated suggestions to choose from:
Examples of the business category options on GMB (some a very obscure!)
5. Setting the Address of Your Business
Now you need to set up the location to associate with your listing.
Adding a location to GMB
You’ll need to choose between the following:
Option #1 (YES) Brick & Mortar Business Listing
Option #2 (NO) Service Area Business Listing
Let’s quickly walk through each:
Option #1 (YES) Brick & Mortar Business Listing
If you are setting up a listing for a physical business with a location, add that here:
Choosing the address for a business with physical premises
Option #2 (NO) Service Area Business Listing
If you don’t have physical premises but still serve customers in an area, you can add that here:
Choosing the address for a business with a service area
You can either search for your area or use the suggested options.
6. Add Your Contact Details
Now you need to add a way for customers to get in touch with you (phone + website):
Adding contact details to your GMB listing
Adding your website to Google My Business can potentially drive a customer to your site where you can more easily convert them. Likewise, listing your phone number gives customers a way to contact you directly
7. Finish And Verify Your Listing
Once you’ve filled in all the relevant information in GMB, you can submit your listing:
Finish and manage your GMB listing
Almost there, but there’s an important step you need to do here:
Verify your listing.
Choose a method for verifying your listing (very important step)
In order for your Google My Business listing to show up, you need to verify it. This can take a couple of days, although you can optimize your listing while you are waiting.
To get your listing verified, Google will send you a postcard with a verification code on it.
Postcard verification for Google My Business
5 Ways to Verify Your Business on Google My Business
Depending on the type of business listing you’re trying to get listed or to manage, you’ll have a choice of options to verify your business:
1. Verify by Mail (Postcard)
The most common is via postcard. While logged into your GMB profile, check your business address is correct and click “Mail”.
Once it arrives, you’ll need to sign in to your Google account, click “Verify” from the menu and enter the verification code from your postcard.
While waiting for your postcard to arrive (which should take about 5 days), Google recommends that you do not:
Edit your business name
Edit your address
Change the business category
Request a new code
Doing so could slow down the verification process and require Google customer support to step in.
2. Verify by Phone
Google allows some businesses to verify their listing via phone. If this applies to you, you will see an option to ‘Verify by phone’. Ensure your phone number is correct and you’ll be send a verification code via text message.
3. Verify by Email
Google allows some businesses to verify their listing via email. If this applies to you, you will see an option to “Verify by email”. Make sure your email address is correct and you’ll be sent a link to verify your listing.
4. Instant Verification
If you’ve already verified your business with Google Search Console, you may be able to instantly verify your listing.
It’s pretty simple, just sign in to Google My Business using the same account you used to verify your business with Search Console and you’re done.
Some GMB business categories are not eligible for instant verification. If you don’t see a notification asking you to verify your listing, you’ll have to use an alternate verification method.
5. Bulk verification
If you operate over 10 locations for the same business, you may be eligible to use bulk verification. In order to qualify, you shouldn’t be a service business or an agency managing multiple businesses.
Here’s how to bulk verify your Google My Business listings:
Log in to Google My Business and choose a location
Select “Get verified” next to one of your locations
Click “Chain”.
Now fill in the form with all the information (business name, location, contact details, etc.)
Submit the form (it can take up to a week for Google to process).
6 Tips for Optimizing Your Google My Business Listing
Let’s recap, by now you should have:
Setup your GMB listing
Added your business details
Verified your listing
Now what? Well, it’s time to optimize your listing!
Go to the Google My Business dashboard, click on your listing and select “Info”. Then choose a section to complete or update.

Check out these tips to get the most from your Google My Business Profile:
1. Keep Your Listing Information Updated
One of the best ways to optimize your Google My Business listing is also the most obvious: keep it up to date.
At the very least, make sure the following are always correct:
Name
Address
Phone Number
Website
Description
Category
Attributes
As a business, you should display contact info for the convenience of customers in case they want to reach out. And GMB is just an extension of this.
You want to make it as easy as possible for customers to find you and contact you.
Name, address, phone number (NAP) are essential contact details to have on your GMB
A correct address can help customers approach your business/service area quickly. If they can’t find you easily, there’s a chance they’ll be getting in touch with a competitor.
Keeping your phone number, working hours, and product categories updated is useful for potential customers. Especially when you consider that, on average, a company’s details show up as many as 1,009 times in search results per month.
You do not want to lose your potential customers by sharing any invalid/false information. So be careful to update your listing regularly.
This might come in handy if you want to add information about a new product or recently started services that you want to share with your customers.
Google usually takes three business days to verify and update the information. You can even add managers to run your business page.
However, beware of the competitors as they can also change your listings.
2. Upload Photos to Your Listing
Your GMB listing is the perfect place to show off your products and services by adding images, videos, and virtual tours to promote your business
You can upload appealing images of your products and services or maybe give visitors a peek into your office location.
An example of photos uploaded to a Google My Business listing
Scrolling through these encourages customers to peek into the business website and ultimately get in touch with you to know more or place an order.
Once your business listing is verified, it can display a combination of tagged and uploaded photos. Meaning not only can you upload photos as the business owner, but customers can too.
Avg. number of photos on GMB listings
A study shows that small scale enterprises upload an average of 11 photos but there are plenty of businesses on GMB that have hundreds more. Also, don’t forget to put up a logo or cover photo of your brand.
Google search results for your brand and keywords will display pictures and videos with the most views on the top.
When uploading photos, try to keep the file size between 10KB and 5MB and use PNG or JPG formats.
Here are the best Google My Business image sizes to use:
Profile image – 250 x 250 pixels
Cover photo – 1080 x 608 pixels
Shared images – 497 x 373 pixels
3. Add Information About Your Products/Services
Sometimes one of the best things you can do to promote your business is to show off what you do.
Show off your product or service offering on GMB
You can customize your company’s GMB page by clearly mentioning the services you offer and the products you sell. This should help your customers understand what your business is about.
For example, restaurants can add links to their menus and pin their restaurant location.
Run a restaurant? Add links to your menu + online orders on GMB
It is better to add different sections for a variety of food services available at the restaurant. In fact, you could add the descriptions and prices of everything to build a sort of virtual menu visitors can browse through take their pick.
Insurance companies, marketing agencies, online health consultancies, legal assistance firms, can put up different sections for the services they provide and provide the ability to directly book consultations.
Add an ability for potential customers to book an appointment via GMB
A description, along with the service charges, should be given to convince the customers to make a call.
Eliminate and relieve your customers from the need to wait in long queues and never-ending phone calls by using the “Reserve/Book” option.
Run a hotel? Add a button to book a room from your GMB
Anyone anywhere in the world can pay for tickets, book appointments, and reserve a spot at their favorite places.
4. Answer Questions (Before They Are Asked)
Did you know your Google My Business profile comes with a built-in FAQ tool?
Anticipate and clear any doubts people might have about your business. Create an FAQ section online to facilitate your customers. For instance, a potential customer might want to know the size or the age group a single product is suitable for.
Collect and answer customer questions on your GMB listing
In the case of restaurants, a customer might want to check if the meal does not have any allergic ingredients added to it or the number of people it serves.
Likewise, in the case of service-oriented businesses, a person might check if a particular service is being provided in his/her area or if there are any side effects.
Clear these doubts and ambiguities through an FAQ section. If you want to go beyond this, you can also communicate with customers by turning on the messaging option!
5. Publish Google Posts
Want to win some clicks and potential sales? Take advantage of Google Posts:
You can use Google Posts to show off what you can do
Google Posts are a great opportunity for you to connect directly to your potential customers by capturing their attention.
These posts help your local SEO strategy generate more organic clicks. You can include CTA buttons in your posts to encourage users to take action.
Here’s how posts can help increase your local SEO:
Generate organic clicks on CTA buttons to help improve page rankings.
Increase traffic to other content on your site (like blog posts)
Link a post to a survey form and collect user information.
6. Get Customer Reviews
Your customers are the lifeblood of your business. So make sure you value their comments and feedback reviews by responding to them well in time.
Google My Business makes it easy for customers to add reviews about your business to your profile, and for potential customers to read them.
Make your GMB listing stand out by getting (hopefully positive) reviews
Why should you care about getting reviews on your Google My Business listing?
Well, for starters 82% of consumers read online reviews for local businesses.
Results from a local consumer review study
As well as highlighting the confidence and trust customers show towards your brand, Google reviews directly affect the search rankings.
Google My Business reviews are an opportunity for engaging more customers by giving out more information about your products or services.
Just be mindful of responding to any negative reviews.
It may seem counterintuitive (or you may want to just sweep bad reviews under the rug) but taking the time to respond to bad reviews can actually be more effective than ignoring them. It shows that you are engaging with your audience and care about the quality of your business.
And that’s never a bad thing1
How to Get Help from Google My Business Support Team
Sometimes you may need some help with your GMB listing. You can always count on the Google My Business Help Community if you are facing any issues in operating your page.
Google My Business support site
You can either search for a query in the GMB Knowledge Base or reach out to the volunteers and users for their assistance.
If you want to report fake listings or any fraudulent information, you can register a complaint with GMB using the official Business Redressal Complaint Form.
Likewise, in the case of fake customer reviews, you can raise the flag as “inappropriate” to ensure reliable and honest customer services.
Summary
When it comes to creating an online presence, generating leads and getting yourself noticed, having a Google My Business profile is just as crucial as other practices.
Not only does this give your brand a more professional outlook, but it also allows you to manage what you want customers to see and get your business listed on another Google’s property at no cost.
Google My Business FAQs
This section answers some of the most frequently asked questions GMB users have:
What Is the Purpose of Google My Business?
Google My Business is a free-of-cost tool that businesses use to organize their presence online. Not only does this presence help people to find your website, but it also helps in locating your business through Google Maps.
Once you’ve completed the verification process of your company, you can add open hours, upload photos, and ask for reviews from customers. You can interact with your buyers online and ultimately expand your presence and enhance your entrepreneurial operations.
How Do I Use Google My Business? How to Get My Business On Google?
To get started, you must first create an account on GMB. Proceed to www.google.com/business and fill in the information. Upload your address, select the nature of your company, and tick the services you provide for your customers.
Get verified through postcards, phone, or email, and see your brand go live.
Does Google My Business Cost Money?
No, Google My Business is completely free for everyone. Just like anyone can list their business on Google Maps, you can create an account on GMB and get your business online. Moreover, Google also allows you to have several listings under the same account without any charges.
What Is Store Code In Google My Business?
Store code is a number that can only be viewed by the person managing the business. The code does not have much importance other than allowing Google to differentiate your business and uniquely identifying your location. Google also uses these codes to display inventory information to potential customers.
How to Stop Google From Calling My Business?
Google usually calls businesses listed on GMB for verification. Most of the time, these calls are automated recordings. They may want to confirm operating hours, ask about your services and your ads (if any).
To avoid getting calls from Google, you can report calls and register a complaint. You can also block their number or report it.
How Do I Access My Google Business Page?
All you need to do is go on to Google My Business page. Once you’re there, log in with your credentials and Google will redirect you.
How to Hide Address On Google My Business?
To hide your address, log in to your Google My Business account. Click on the “info” tab and find the address section. Click on the little pencil on the corner to edit your address. To clear out the information, click “clear address,” and then click “apply” when the dialogue box pops up. Make sure to save your changes when you’re exiting the page.

Knowing how to use Google My Business is standard for every digital marketer, right?
Actually… no.
While there are plenty of lengthy-but-vague help docs out there, finding answers to specific problems can be challenging.
To take some of the leg-work out, we’ve created a handy worksheet and chart tool to determine your eligibility, and to help understand what to do if you have multiple listings or service area businesses (SABs).
We’ll also help you understand how posting content to your Google My Business listing can support your business in a number of ways.
Find out:
How does Google My Business fit into my content strategy?
Why should I care about Google My Business?
Does Google My Business help me with SEO?
How does a content marketing platform help me manage Google My Business?
Tools:
Google My Business verification troubleshooting guide.
Guide to Google My Business Optimization.
Why Should I Include Google My Business in My Content Distribution Strategy?
As content marketers, we often fail to acknowledge a significant part of our responsibility is to ensure our intended audience actually becomes exposed to our content.
One way to do this is to update your Google My Business listing weekly as a channel to share your current content.
Content particularly relevant to Google My Business is locally-focused content (for example, events or specials.)
Why Do I Need Google My Business?
Did you know, on average, businesses receive 943 Search views and 317 Maps views each month?
This data, from a 2019 BrightLocal study of 45,000 anonymous local business listings, shows there is a great opportunity to get more views, clicks, and actions as a result of your localized content.
To see the proof, you can check out Google My Business Insights to gather data on how many people viewed your listing, saw your post, clicked on it, and engaged.
However, Google My Business Insights may not always be accurate.
Consider using Google tracked links in your posts to more accurately report clicks and engagements right in Google Analytics.
Google My Business helps digital marketers get views on their content without having to wait for Google to rank it in the top ten search engine results.
The benefits of posting on Google My Business go beyond acquiring views and clicks on your latest content.
Regular posting can earn you a coveted spot in the local 3-pack, which is the top 3 business listings for relevant search terms, and this placement alone is a valid reason to add a new post at least every 7 days.
Additionally, the same BrightLocal study also revealed a typical business receives up to 59 actions per month on Google My Business.
These actions can be clicks through to your website, requests for directions, or phone calls.
The majority of actions are in the form of clicks, but unless your Google My Business listing is optimized, you could be missing out on actual phone calls or in-store visits.
Yikes!
Your posts on Google My Business signals to Google indicating your business is the right one to display for related searches locally.
Reviews on Google My Business are critical.
They effectively represent your customers’ confirmation your business is reputable, especially when you take the time to respond to each one; positive or negative.
In fact, a prompt, empathetic, and helpful response to a negative review can be more valuable than a positive review.
We all make mistakes.
Consumers appreciate those businesses willing to accept and fix them in a timely fashion.
An important point, and perhaps the most important of all, your posts show potential customers what’s new with your business at exactly the right time – when they are looking for it.
A 2019 study from Ben Fisher reported only 17% of the businesses reviewed had a post within the last 7 days.
So, more than 80% of businesses did not have anything new to share with searchers who are actively looking for their businesses.
Inconceivable!
What Kind of Content Should I Be Creating for Google My Business?
Keep Your Listing Complete & Accurate
Before you create any content, ensure your GMB listing is complete (address, telephone number, business hours, business overview, products/services, etc.) and accurate (links to your website, social accounts, other relevant sources of information.)
This may seem basic, but far too many small businesses neglect the details and Google is all about details.
Share Offers & Specials
You can experiment with creating content specifically for your Google My Business listing.
It’s important to remember the intent of the person viewing your listing is likely more transactional.
This means you can take a more direct sales approach: offers, specials, or what sets your business apart from your competitors.
Post Encouraging Content
If your business sees customers at its location, you can describe the experience you want your customers to have when they arrive.
Videos, photos, and even introductions to the team members they will meet are all great ways to encourage customers to visit you.
Make your Google My Business page inviting for your customers. Think “Daily Specials,” “Seasonal Offerings,” or even weather-related: “Our Patio is Open!”
Create a Media-Rich Listing
Invest in working with a Google-certified 360 virtual tour professional to add videos to your verified listing, or create your own video to introduce yourself and your business.
(Be sure to also upload this to YouTube and optimize your channel for the best results; another important topic on its own.)
Introduce Photos
Your shop, office, or business photos should be used as your cover image.
Try including photos of your work or featuring your products.
Share projects you are proud of or which have garnered a special review.
In fact, many of your contributions to Google My Business should come in the form of photos.
There’s compelling evidence that businesses with 100+ photos in their Google My Business listing get more clicks.
Answer Questions
Check to see what questions potential customers are asking about your business and answer them in a blog post shared on your listing.
Does Google My Business Actually Contribute to SEO?
Yes, it does – at least locally. It can help in a few ways.
Not only does a verified and optimized Google My Business profile stand a better chance of being in the local 3-pack, putting your presence at the top of search results, it can also indirectly help your website rank.
It does this by providing social signals to Google, by driving traffic to your website, and by providing social proof in the form of reviews.
Google says local search results are based on “relevance, distance, and prominence.”
Relevance: How well a listing matches the intent of the searcher.
Distance: Google pairs searchers with verified businesses in close proximity.
Prominence: How well-known your business is.
Can a Content Marketing Platform Help Me Manage My Google My Business Listing Better?
A content marketing platform can help you manage all of your content better.
It brings planning and clarity to your content calendar and ensures you stay on top of creating regular posts within Google My Business, which is an easily forgotten task.
Having a content marketing platform brings structure and focus to your content marketing plan and helps you to draw upon the expertise of multiple team members with features to make collaboration easy.
A content marketing platform gives you a process to work from and analytics to help you to better understand how your activities are working.
If you can identify activities that are making a positive impact, then you can use these ideas for future content items.
Tailoring Content for Google My Business Seems Like a Lot of Work – Why Isn’t Updating My Website Enough?
Google My Business is a free tool, which has a direct impact on current local businesses.
As with anything, you need to feed it to make it grow. Google will not connect-the-dots for you.
The intention of Google My Business is to provide searchers with immediate and accurate information.
Achieving rank takes time and this isn’t useful for relaying information that will go stale quickly.
And, in so far as it’s a tool offered by Google, one has to believe Google puts a high stake on content maintained there.
Think of Your Own ‘Google My Business’ Experience
It’s a lot to expect for digital marketing managers and small business owners to become skilled at Google My Business, on top of the myriad of other marketing activities required to foster a presence online.
Because of the vague help documentation from Google and frustratingly long response times from Google, it can be tempting to leave it for another day.
Ultimately though, think of the last time you performed a local search and how easy Google My Business made the process of choosing where to go.
Once your listing is verified successfully, your time investment is likely only an hour or two a month and we suspect there are many further opportunities to come with this great, free business tool.
Find the time in your schedule to dig in and really ‘own’ your Google My Business listing.
Use this worksheet to help gather up the information you need to get started: Guide to Google My Business Optimization.

Setting Up Google My Business
Creating and setting up a Google My Business (GMB) account is a straightforward process that can significantly impact your business’s online presence. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started:
Creating a GMB Account: Begin by visiting the Google My Business website. If you have a Google account (like Gmail), use it to sign in; if not, you’ll need to create one. Once logged in, click on “Manage now” and enter the name of your business. If your business doesn’t appear in the dropdown menu, click on “Add your business to Google.” Then, select the appropriate business category that best describes your business.
Adding Business Details: Fill in the essential details of your business, such as the address, phone number, and website. This information is crucial as it helps customers find your physical location and learn more about your services or products. If you operate without a physical storefront or office, you can specify service areas where you operate.
Choosing a Verification Method: After entering your details, you’ll need to verify your business. Google offers several verification methods, including postcard verification, phone verification, email verification, or instant verification (the latter is available for certain businesses already using Google tools like Google Analytics). The most common method is postcard verification, where Google sends a postcard with a verification code to your business address. This process can take a few days.
Completing Your Business Profile: Once verified, complete your profile by adding more details. This includes business hours, a description of your business, and photos. High-quality images of your storefront, products, or services can significantly enhance your profile’s appeal.
Optimizing Your Profile: Regularly update your profile with new photos, special offers, or posts about your business. Keep your information accurate and up-to-date, as this helps build trust with potential customers.
Tips for Completing Your Business Profile
Be Precise and Consistent: Ensure that your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) are consistent across all online platforms. This consistency is crucial for SEO and helps avoid customer confusion.
Utilize Keywords: Incorporate relevant keywords into your business description. This can improve your visibility in search results related to your products or services.
Encourage Reviews: Prompt happy customers to leave reviews on your GMB profile. Respond to these reviews professionally, showing appreciation for positive feedback and addressing any concerns raised in negative reviews.
Use High-Quality Images: Upload clear, high-resolution images that showcase your business. Include images of your premises, staff, and popular products or services.
Keep Information Updated: Regularly update your business hours, especially during holidays or special events. Accurate hours ensure customers know when they can visit or contact you.
By following these steps and tips, you can create a robust and effective Google My Business profile that not only boosts your online presence but also serves as a valuable tool for attracting and retaining customers.
Optimizing Your Google My Business Profile
Optimizing your Google My Business (GMB) profile is crucial for maximizing your visibility and appeal to potential customers. A well-optimized profile not only helps in ranking higher in local search results but also provides a comprehensive and engaging snapshot of your business to online searchers. Here are key strategies to effectively optimize your GMB profile:
Importance of Accurate and Comprehensive Information
The accuracy and completeness of your GMB profile information cannot be overstated. Ensure that every detail, from your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) to your operating hours and website link, is up-to-date and matches the information across other online platforms. This consistency is vital for search engine optimization (SEO) and helps in building trust with your customers. Inaccurate or outdated information can lead to missed opportunities and can frustrate potential customers, negatively impacting your business’s reputation.
Selecting the Right Business Category
Choosing the correct business category is a critical step in optimizing your GMB profile. The category you select helps Google understand what your business offers and match your profile with relevant searches. It’s important to be as specific as possible. For instance, if you own a bakery that specializes in wedding cakes, choose “Wedding Bakery” instead of just “Bakery.” If your business spans multiple categories, select a primary category that best represents your core offering and add secondary categories as needed.
Utilizing Keywords in Your Business Description
Incorporating relevant keywords into your business description can significantly improve your profile’s search visibility. Identify keywords that potential customers might use to find businesses like yours. These could include your products or services, location-specific terms, and unique attributes of your business. However, avoid keyword stuffing; your description should be natural and customer-friendly. A well-crafted description that strategically uses keywords can make your profile more discoverable to the right audience.
Adding High-Quality Images and Videos
Visual content plays a pivotal role in attracting and engaging customers. High-quality images and videos can give potential customers a glimpse into your business, products, and services. Upload clear, well-lit photos of your storefront, interior, staff, and popular products or services. Before and after pictures, if applicable, can also be very effective. Additionally, consider adding a virtual tour or short videos that highlight unique aspects of your business. Regularly updating your photos and videos keeps your profile fresh and engaging.
Remember, your GMB profile is often the first interaction potential customers have with your business, so make it count.
Managing and Updating Your Profile
Regular management and updating of your Google My Business (GMB) profile are essential for maintaining its effectiveness and relevance. Keeping your profile current not only helps in providing accurate information to your customers but also plays a role in your local SEO performance. Here’s how you can efficiently manage and update your GMB profile:
How to Update Business Information (Hours, Address, Contact)
Updating basic business information on GMB is a straightforward process. To change details like your business hours, address, or contact information, simply log in to your GMB account and select the business you wish to update. In the dashboard, click on the “Info” tab where you can edit various details of your profile. For instance, to update business hours, click on the pencil icon next to “Hours,” make the necessary changes, and save. It’s crucial to keep this information updated, especially during holidays, special events, or in unforeseen circumstances like temporary closures.
Responding to Customer Reviews
Responding to customer reviews on your GMB profile is a powerful way to engage with your customers and build your business’s reputation. Positive reviews should be acknowledged with gratitude and appreciation, reinforcing pleasant customer experiences. Negative reviews, while challenging, offer an opportunity to demonstrate your commitment to customer satisfaction. Address such reviews professionally and empathetically, offering solutions or clarifications where appropriate. Timely and thoughtful responses to reviews can significantly enhance your business’s credibility and customer trust.
Posting Updates and Offers on GMB
GMB allows you to post updates and offers directly on your profile, a feature that can be used to engage with your audience and keep them informed about what’s new with your business. These posts can include announcements, special offers, events, or new products and services. To create a post, go to your GMB dashboard and select “Posts” from the menu. Choose the type of post you want to create, add relevant details, images, or links, and then publish. Regularly posting on GMB can keep your profile active and engaging, encouraging more customer interactions and visits.
Effectively managing and updating your Google My Business profile is crucial for keeping your online presence accurate and engaging. By staying on top of these updates, you ensure that your business is presented in the best light possible, making it easier for customers to find and choose your services or products. Remember, an active and well-maintained GMB profile is a key component of your digital marketing strategy and can significantly impact your business’s online success.
Leveraging GMB for Local SEO
Local Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a critical aspect of digital marketing for businesses aiming to attract customers in their geographical area. Understanding and leveraging local SEO can significantly enhance a business’s online visibility and drive more foot traffic to their physical locations. Google My Business (GMB) plays a pivotal role in this process.
Understanding Local SEO and Its Importance
Local SEO involves optimizing your online presence to appear in search results for a specific local area. It’s particularly important for businesses with physical locations or those serving a specific geographic community. The goal is to ensure that when potential customers search for products or services in your area, your business appears prominently in search results. This involves optimizing your website and online content with local keywords, ensuring your business is listed in local directories, and managing online reviews and ratings.
How GMB Affects Local Search Rankings
Google My Business is a powerful tool for enhancing local SEO. A well-optimized GMB profile can significantly improve your business’s visibility in local search results and Google Maps. Google uses various factors from your GMB profile to rank businesses in local searches, including relevance (how well your business matches the search query), distance (how close your business is to the searcher), and prominence (how well-known your business is, which is often influenced by reviews and SEO practices). By providing comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date information on your GMB profile, and by regularly posting updates and engaging with customers, you can improve these factors and boost your local search rankings.
Encouraging Customer Reviews and Interactions
Customer reviews are a crucial component of local SEO and your GMB profile. Positive reviews not only enhance your business’s credibility and appeal to potential customers but also contribute to higher search rankings. Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews by making the process easy and straightforward – for instance, by providing a link to your GMB review section in emails or on your website. Responding to reviews, both positive and negative, is equally important. Engaging with customers through reviews shows that you value their feedback and are committed to improving their experience. Additionally, actively responding to queries in the Q&A section of your GMB profile can further boost engagement and provide valuable information to potential customers.
In summary, leveraging Google My Business for local SEO is essential for any business looking to increase its local online visibility and attract more customers. By understanding the nuances of local SEO, optimizing your GMB profile, and actively managing customer reviews and interactions, you can significantly enhance your business’s presence in local search results.
Advanced Features and Tools
Google My Business (GMB) offers a range of advanced features and tools that can be leveraged to enhance your business’s online presence and engagement with potential customers. These tools are designed to provide deeper insights into customer behavior, enable direct communication with your audience, and promote your business more effectively.
Utilizing Google Posts for Promotions and Updates
Google Posts is a feature within GMB that allows businesses to share content directly on their Google listing. This can include promotions, events, news updates, or new product announcements. These posts appear in Google Search and Maps, giving businesses a unique opportunity to engage with their audience at the moment they are looking up their business online. To create a post, simply go to your GMB dashboard, select ‘Posts’ from the menu, and choose the type of post you want to create. You can add text, images, and even call-to-action buttons like ‘Buy’, ‘Sign up’, ‘Learn more’, or ‘Get offer’. Regularly updating your Google Posts can keep your audience informed and engaged with the latest happenings in your business.
Understanding Insights and Analytics
GMB provides valuable insights and analytics that help businesses understand how customers interact with their listings. These insights include data on how customers found your listing (through direct searches or discovery searches), the actions they took (like visiting your website, requesting directions, or calling your business), and where those customers are located. This information is invaluable for refining your local SEO strategy and understanding customer behavior. By analyzing these insights, you can make more informed decisions about how to optimize your profile and which areas of your business to highlight.
Using the Q&A Feature Effectively
The Q&A feature on GMB allows customers and potential customers to ask questions directly on your business listing. This feature is a great way to engage with your audience and provide them with valuable information. It’s important to monitor and respond to these questions promptly and accurately, as this interaction is visible to anyone viewing your listing. Providing detailed and helpful answers can not only satisfy the individual’s inquiry but also serve as a resource for others with similar questions. Additionally, you can proactively add frequently asked questions and answers to your listing to provide immediate information to users.
These tools are designed to help you better understand and connect with your audience, ultimately driving more business and improving customer satisfaction.
Common Challenges and Solutions
While Google My Business (GMB) is a powerful tool for businesses to enhance their online presence, several common challenges can arise. Understanding how to effectively address these issues is crucial for maintaining a strong and positive online profile.
Addressing Duplicate Listings
Duplicate listings on GMB can occur for various reasons, such as changes in business location or ownership. These duplicates can confuse customers and dilute your business’s online presence. To address this, first, identify any duplicate listings. You can do this by searching for your business on Google and noting any multiple entries. Once identified, claim the duplicate listing if you haven’t already. After claiming, you have the option to merge the duplicate with your primary listing or request its removal through Google’s support. It’s important to ensure that all business information is consistent across all listings before merging or removal.
Handling Negative Reviews
Negative reviews are an inevitable part of doing business online. However, they provide an opportunity to demonstrate excellent customer service and can even improve your business’s credibility if handled correctly. Always respond to negative reviews promptly and professionally. Acknowledge the customer’s concerns and offer to resolve the issue offline if necessary. Avoid being defensive; instead, show that you are willing to listen and improve. Remember, your response is not just for the reviewer but also for future customers who will read your reviews and responses.
Navigating Google’s Guidelines and Policies
Google has specific guidelines and policies for GMB listings to ensure accurate and trustworthy information for users. These guidelines cover aspects such as business name, location, and category accuracy. Violations can lead to penalties, including listing suspension. To avoid this, familiarize yourself with Google’s guidelines. Ensure your business information is accurate and representative of your physical location and services. Avoid prohibited practices like keyword stuffing in business names or fake reviews. Regularly review Google’s policy updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
FAQs
Here are answers to frequently asked questions about managing a GMB profile.
How often should I update my GMB profile?
It’s important to keep your GMB profile as current as possible. Regular updates ensure that potential customers receive the most accurate and up-to-date information about your business. At a minimum, update your profile whenever there are changes to your operating hours, contact information, or location. Additionally, regularly posting updates, such as special offers, events, or new products, can keep your profile active and engaging. A good practice is to review and refresh your profile at least once a month, even if there are no major changes to report.
Can I manage multiple locations with one GMB account?
Yes, you can manage multiple business locations with a single GMB account. This is particularly useful for businesses with several branches or franchises. Google provides a dashboard where you can add and manage multiple locations. Each location can have its unique profile with specific details like address, hours, and photos. Managing multiple locations from one account simplifies the process, allowing you to ensure consistency across your listings while still tailoring each one to its specific location.
How does GMB impact my business’s visibility on Google Maps?
Your GMB profile plays a significant role in your business’s visibility on Google Maps. A well-optimized GMB profile can improve your ranking in local search results, making it more likely for your business to appear when users search for relevant products or services in your area. Factors like accurate location data, complete business information, positive customer reviews, and regular updates contribute to better visibility on Google Maps. Additionally, the use of relevant keywords and categories in your GMB profile can enhance your discoverability in location-based searches.
What are the best practices for responding to customer reviews?
Responding to customer reviews on your GMB profile is crucial for building trust and engaging with your audience. Here are some best practices:
Respond Promptly: Aim to respond to reviews as quickly as possible. This shows that you value customer feedback and are attentive to customer needs.
Be Professional and Courteous: Regardless of the nature of the review, always maintain a professional and respectful tone in your responses.
Personalize Your Responses: Tailor your responses to the specific comments of each review. Avoid generic replies, as personalized responses demonstrate genuine care and attention.
Address Negative Feedback Constructively: For negative reviews, acknowledge the customer’s concerns and offer to resolve the issue. If necessary, take the conversation offline to provide a more personalized resolution.
Encourage Engagement: Thank customers for positive reviews and invite them to visit again or try other products or services.
Final Tips for Maximizing GMB’s Potential
In essence, Google My Business is more than just a listing service; it’s a comprehensive platform that, when used effectively, can significantly enhance your business’s online presence and connect you more closely with your local community. By following these guidelines and regularly engaging with the platform, businesses can harness the full power of GMB to grow and thrive in the digital landscape.

WATER PUMPS
Why GMB WATER Pumps?
Not all water pumps are the same. Here’s what makes our water pumps stand out.
High-Strength Steel Bearing
GMB has manufactured bearings for over 75 years in the global market for both the OEM and aftermarket industries. GMB has studied all aspects of bearing manufacturing to design the highest-quality bearings with proper high-grade steel, precision bearing race machining and polishing, and proper grease selection. GMB uses roller bearings for all high-load applications.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
The bearing is the heart of the water pump and experiences the highest stress during operation. Low-grade materials, poor machining, and improper grease selection will all cause higher internal wear of the bearing components. This results in much lower life expectancy of the bearing, and thus the water pump. Roller bearings have higher load capacity and durability compared to ball bearings, which are necessary for proper operation with high-load applications.
Proprietary Formulated Mechanical Seal
GMB Mechanical Shaft Seals are made with proprietary elastomers and agents for protection and sealing power. GMB Shaft Seals utilize carbon and ceramic sealing surfaces for superior wear resistance.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
The shaft seal is crucial in preventing leakage from the coolant system and is the most common failure point on water pumps. Any debris or foreign contaminants (i.e. rust) in the cooling system will result in wear of the sealing surfaces, eventually leading to excess leakage. Excess leakage may also result in bearing failure due to flushing of the lubricating grease. By using high wear-resistant components, the seal can withstand extreme temperature ranges and prevent leakage for the life of the water pump.
Precision OEM-Spec Water Pump Housing
GMB Water Pump Housings are manufactured to match the exact OEM-spec materials (cast iron, aluminum, or stamped steel). Each housing is precision measured using state-of-the-art technology to be dimensionally correct up to a 99% accuracy with strict tolerance limits.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Using low-grade materials or inaccurate dimensions with loose tolerances can cause pump rupture, bearing failure, pump ceasing, compromised flow rates, coolant leakage, or inadequate performance. Poor gasket surface machining can also result in leakage across the mounting surface.
Precision-Formed Impeller
GMB Water Pump Impellers are manufactured to match the exact OEM-spec materials (metal or polymer composite) based specifically on the OEM design. Each impeller is also precision measured to be dimensionally correct up to a 99% accuracy with strict tolerance limits.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Using materials incompatible with the vehicle’s coolant system and inaccurate dimensions with loose tolerances can cause compromised flow rates at varying RPM ranges, inadequate coolant system pressure, overheating conditions, or pump cavitation. By matching OEM material and design, GMB pumps allow for the exact same cooling capacity as the OEM part.

How To Maximize The Performance And Lifespan Of Your Water Pump
Preventative maintenance is the key to maximizing the performance and durability of any water pump. Here’s a list of maintenance tips to share with your customers:
Check coolant fluid levels with every oil change. Coolant should be changed approximately every 30,000 miles.
Always use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended coolant. Avoid off-brand coolants as they tend to have a lower level of ethylene glycol concentration and higher levels of acidity/alkalinity which drastically reduce the lifespan of a water pump.
If not using a pre-mixed coolant, make sure to mix with distilled water rather than tap water. Tap water has small amounts of metals that can accelerate corrosion as it lacks lubricating, cleaning, and anti-rust properties, which can accelerate deterioration of the cooling system components.
It’s recommended water pumps be replaced every 60,000 miles as a preventative maintenance item to ensure the engine’s cooling system is running adequately.
When replacing the water pump, make sure to do a full coolant system flush to purge any residual contaminants and sediment deposits.

GBM
f(x)=∑m=1MαmT(x;Θm)
f
(
x
)
=
∑
m
=
1
M
α
m
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
αm
α
m
T(x;Θm)
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
argminf∑i=1NL(yi,f(xi))
arg
min
f
∑
i
=
1
N
L
(
y
i
,
f
(
x
i
)
)
L
L
boosted tree
T(x;Θm)
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
f(x)=∑m=1MαmT(x;Θm)
f
(
x
)
=
∑
m
=
1
M
α
m
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
T(x;Θm)
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
f0(x)=0
f
0
(
x
)
=
0
fm(x)=fm−1(x)+T(x;Θm)
f
m
(
x
)
=
f
m
−
1
(
x
)
+
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
fM(x)=∑m=1MT(x;Θm)
f
M
(
x
)
=
∑
m
=
1
M
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)
m
m
步时,需要求解目标函数Θ′m=argminΘ∑i=1NL(yi,fm−1(xi)+T(x−i;Θm))Θm′=argminΘ∑i=1NL(yi,fm−1(xi)+T(x−i;Θm))
Θ′m
Θ
m
′
L=(y−f(x))2
L
=
(
y
−
f
(
x
)
)
2
L=[y−fm−1(xi)−T(x−i;Θm)]2
L
=
[
y
−
f
m
−
1
(
x
i
)
−
T
(
x
−
i
;
Θ
m
)
]
2
(xi,yi)
(
x
i
,
y
i
)
;
fM(x)
f
M
(
x
)
3.初始化
f0(x)=0
f
0
(
x
)
=
0
rmi=yi−fm−1(xi)
r
m
i
=
y
i
−
f
m
−
1
(
x
i
)
Θ′m=argminΘ∑i=1NL(rmi,fm−1(xi)+T(x−i;Θm))
Θ
m
′
=
arg
min
Θ
∑
i
=
1
N
L
(
r
m
i
,
f
m
−
1
(
x
i
)
+
T
(
x
−
i
;
Θ
m
)
)
fm(x)=fm−1(x)+T(x;Θm)
f
m
(
x
)
=
f
m
−
1
(
x
)
+
T
(
x
;
Θ
m
)

(xi,yi)
(
x
i
,
y
i
)
; 2.构建提升树模型
fM(x)
f
M
(
x
)
3.初始化
f0(x)=arg minΘ∑i=1NL(yi;Θ)
f
0
(
x
)

XGboost
10-16
LightGBM(Light Gradient Boosting Machine)
